The fundamental nature of rigpa is naked awareness. That naked awareness, which is the ground luminosity, has never been polluted. The fundamental nature of mind has never been deluded. On that basis, and from that ground which is the naked pristine awareness of rigpa, all these buddhas and wisdoms of buddha manifest. It is the only source of these manifestations. It is the only reason why they manifest.
The ground-awareness refers to the wisdom of kadak. It refers to that one wisdom which appears in the five buddha families, which appears in one hundred deities, and so on. All of these boil down to one basic fundamental alpha-pure wisdom of kadak, which has never been confused in its own state. Its own state has always been awake and has always been fresh. It is free from any defilement. Therefore,
As I am the first buddha,
Through my aspiration
May beings of saṃsāra’s three realms
Recognize self-arisen awareness
And expand great wisdom.
